I designed a quick t-shirt for my amazing Grandmother. My entire family will be wearing this shirt when we head to West Virginia to see her this weekend. The typeface is set in Salome, using the alternates. I wanted this design to be a bit more elaborate, but it got down to the wire on time. I can’t wait to see them!

Slide Style™ 2009 Site

The revamp of the Slide Style™ site is finally complete, and live online. A lot of work went into this site, and I like it a LOT more than the old version. It looks a lot cleaner, and much more polished. I think the catalog of products looks awesome. I have some more items to get up on the site… but for the most part, she’s full-steam ahead.Take a look, buy something, and support American drifting!

Believe it or not… I actually SKIPPED the Southeast Drift event at Turner Field today for a class. That’s right. I ditched drifting for school. An opportunity came up to take a class in Cinema 4D – which is an animation software that I have been dying to get my feet wet in. Even though I would miss out on an awesome event at Turner, I knew this would be my chance to get acclimated with Cinema 4D.

Darrin Frankovitz, lead trainer at Maxon was instructing the class at MGFest ’09. The class went over the basics of C4D, and the Mograph module. I learned a lot… including that I have A LOTTT to learn. Here is a screenshot of one of the project files I was making. The extruded Helvetica looked too much like elements of the Comcast commercials to pass it up… so Comcastic™ it was.

A project that I’ve been wrenching on for a minute has finally gone live!!! I’m working with some great people on this project, and I am really excited about it. We have some really big plans for this site.Take a look, subscribe, and comment it up!rnwww.motormavens.comMotorMavens.com

If you were to search the pages of any dictionary, you would find that a maven is a connoisseur – a person who has specialized knowledge or expertise dealing with a particular topic.Though this definition is true, there is much more to being a maven than simply gaining knowledge or experience. True mavens are created by their passion for the subject; after all, relentless passion is the driving force behind the mastery of any subject or skill. That passion is what drove us to create this site and we look forward to all of the specialized knowledge and experience that you, our fellow Motor Mavens, bring to the table. Email us at (motormavens(at)gmail.com) with any suggestions, contributions or special insights you may have.

Tripp sent me a cut of the footage they shot on the 22nd. It turned out RAD! The interior shots utilized a rollcage-mounted Canon 5D Mark II and a steering wheel-mounted Flip Mino HD camera. All the exterior footage was shot using a RED ONE. I can’t get over the quality from the 5D Mark II. I’m super stoked they asked me to be a part of this project. It was definitely a fun Sunday afternoon of shooting.

AAC Silencer Shoot

I designed this poster going for more of a SWAT feel than last years poster design. The photo I had to work with was cluttered with noise from low-light shooting, so it took a lot of retouching to make it look decent. I can definitely see this as a movie cover on the shelf at Blockbuster.

Unfortunately… this poster design fell victim to the chopping block, and got veto’d for print.

Will Roegge just dropped a bomb on the world. Since November 1st, we’ve been whispering that DMGGMASD was the greatest drift event EVER. Even more-so because nobody except those in attendance knew it happened. We’ve collectively been dropping teasers here and there… but the larger picture has not been seen until now.A private infield road-course, 25 select invitees, and one creative juggernaut of a videographer combined to make an unforgettable event, and one AMAZING digital short. Not only does Will have an unparalleled eye behind the lens… his artistry and craft shine equally as bright in the editor’s chair. A true testament… that heart makes all the difference.Thank you, Mr. Roegge… for raising the benchmark, and creating a timeless snap of this epic private day.

In an effort to raise the bar at grassroots drift events… I schemed with Marcos and cranked out a RAD set of decks that will be trophies for this coming weekend’s Southeast Drift Challenge. This will be the first grassroots drift event in Atlanta with sanctioned team drift and single-run competition. This mad action will span two days at Turner.

Trophies are for car shows.

There will be two complete sets of these decks to be won. The 1st place finishers (3 drivers) in the team drift competition will each receive a deck. Each of their decks will read “Team Drift 1st Place”. The 1st-3rd place finishers in the single-run competition on Sunday will receive one of the above decks with their respective finish on it.
