I had a great opportunity to design Ryan Tuerck’s hero card for Gardella Racing. In addition to the card, I was also tasked with redesigning the Gardella Racing logo. Overall I am pretty stoked with the result!
I would definitely love to wrench on more projects like these… so any of you FD teams in need… HOLLER.
This project started out as a way to help the Forza community in their painting efforts. I have received many requests for high-res graphics to use as reference in the painting process. I then used that as an excuse to get better acclimated with Adobe Illustrator, and create a comprehensive guide to the vehicle’s 2007 livery. I have always enjoyed technical drawings in their precise structure and perfection. One thing led to another, and the next thing I know… I spent an insane amount of countless hours creating this. I learned a lot about Illustrator in the process, and it is my hope that this will help any aspiring Forza painters re-create the car’s likeness.
I have a ton of respect for everyone painting Forza replicas. I (still) don’t have a 360 to be familiar with the process, but as far as I know… the tools available are very crude and difficult to use. This painter’s pack took me FOREVER, and I already had most of the graphics on file! I cannot fathom how long it takes to create some of these replicas. Hats off to all you Forza painters for your hard work and attention to detail!

I got fed up with trying to work on the car in pitch darkness, so I put up a couple fluorescent light fixtures. The difference is remarkable. Next on my list for the garage is to get some more shelving up and re-arrange the space better so working on the car is less of a hassle. This garage is much smaller than my last one, so every inch of space counts. I still have a TON of wall decor to go up… but that will make its way to the walls in good time.
A couple weeks back, my buddy Clint Davis gave me a shout about a feature he wanted to do for the Longshots section of Import Tuner. This section is normally reserved for automotive photography, but Clint wanted to switch things up a bit, and feature some video content. It is VERY flattering to be featured in a tuner magazine for my endeavors behind the keyboard instead of behind the wheel.
It is even more of an honor to be paired up on the same page with my ‘Keep Drifting Fun’ buddy, Will Roegge! This feature really turned out cool, and is available on newstands nationwide. Thanks Clint!!!
photo c/o Sir Shawn the SmithThe private DM test-session on the road course at Atlanta Motor Speedway was SICK. Insane high-speed entries, and equally as fast course-exits. I remember looking down as I was apexing the last clip and the speedo was at 85mph.
I finally got around to installing this piece. I think I ordered this in late 2004… and it has been by the wayside on my install list ever since. Truth be told, it would up in a toolbox, and I forgot about it. Matt had to drill out the existing hole and re-tap it for the VDO temp sender, because for some reason it didn’t fit right out of the box.
Install was SUPER easy, and now my oil-temp gauge works!
If you didn’t know… this Hobo ain’t your average hobo. He ith a cultivator of fine beards, exquisite cinematography, and wondrous colour grades. Joshua “Hobo” Herron just dropped his ’09 demo reel on the world… and no, he didn’t upload it from a freeway off-ramp holding a sign that says “Why lie? I need a beer”.Bask in the omnipresent talent exuded in this three-minute sampling of work. Then, when you are done… hire this man so I can enjoy more visuals of this caliber.

My buddy Chad Copeland brought his wild Datsun 620 over last night for some assistance putting some war-inspired shark graphics on the truck. It had been a while since I had done any vinyl work, but it was definitely a fun install. Each side was in 3 separate layers, so it took a little while to get it all on there. I feel like I want the eye to be larger, and lower in relation to the mouth, but overall… I think it turned out awesome! For more about Chad’s truck… check out his website!
I just stumbled on this old Jtuned snap from FD Atlanta in 2005. This was a big day, as it was the first time I would qualify to drive in the professional arena – and what better place to do it, than on my home turf in front of friends and family. It is crazy to think how insanely stock the car was. It has come a LONG way since then. I suppose I have likely evolved as a driver as well.
This was a very memorable day for me. Drifting was fun, and still so pure. The professional element was all new and exciting.
I am behind the times, I know… I still do not have an Xbox 360, which means I am also not privvy all the cool stuff in Forza Motorsport 3. My buddy Marlow showed me this replica of my car in its 2006 livery with Batlground on the door. If you recall, Casey (cobratuner) made an amazing replica of my car in it’s 2007 livery for Forza 2. I think this version of the car was made by “AoG | Kevbo” on the forzamotorsport.net forum.
I’m definitely flattered to see people take the time to make my car’s likeness. It is really, really awesome, so THANK YOU!!!
Sit back, crank your speakers, and prepare your life to become the equivalent of a Maxell commercial, as the automotive-filmmaker’s dream team that is Will Roegge and Joshua Herron announce “Keep Drifting Fun.” This will be their first feature-length production about grassroots drifting in America. Over the course of this year, the duo will be taking to the streets of the U.S.A., living out of a van, eating mostly peanut butter. For obvious reasons (cough Slide America), I am insanely excited to see this come to fruition. It has been nearly four years since we shot Slide America, and as far as I’m concerned… it’s about damn time we get another dose of where grassroots drifting in America is REALLY at, in a current timeframe. In the meantime, enjoy this section of the video, from our members-only drift event in Nashville.
And remember… KEEP DRIFTING FUN.
OR ELSE.
Even though I “revamped” the Slide Style™ site about six months ago… some sort of muse was pushing me to scrap it, and do something else. The hosting was up for renewal, so rather than renew, and keep the hacked up WordPress store that had too much going on, I opted to move everything over to a Big Cartel storefront. Keeping things inline with “less is more for 2010”, I stripped everything down to the barest of essentials. Dare I say that it looks MUCH better? The added functionality that Big Cartel provides, like easier combined & international shipping profiles, made the move that much sweeter.I have some new items making their way to the store over the next few days, so keep your eyes peeled!
I always preach to clients that less is more. Nobody ever listens to me (why would I know what I’m talking about, right?), so I figured what better venue to exercise this philosophy than with my own work. For 2010, I am simplifying the overall identity for Slide Style™. I don’t think it will open any client’s eyes to the ‘less is more’ idealogy, but at least it will give me a chance to push the direction for myself.
