This project started out as a way to help the Forza community in their painting efforts. I have received many requests for high-res graphics to use as reference in the painting process. I then used that as an excuse to get better acclimated with Adobe Illustrator, and create a comprehensive guide to the vehicle’s 2007 livery. I have always enjoyed technical drawings in their precise structure and perfection. One thing led to another, and the next thing I know… I spent an insane amount of countless hours creating this. I learned a lot about Illustrator in the process, and it is my hope that this will help any aspiring Forza painters re-create the car’s likeness.

I have a ton of respect for everyone painting Forza replicas. I (still) don’t have a 360 to be familiar with the process, but as far as I know… the tools available are very crude and difficult to use. This painter’s pack took me FOREVER, and I already had most of the graphics on file! I cannot fathom how long it takes to create some of these replicas. Hats off to all you Forza painters for your hard work and attention to detail!

A couple weeks back, my buddy Clint Davis gave me a shout about a feature he wanted to do for the Longshots section of Import Tuner. This section is normally reserved for automotive photography, but Clint wanted to switch things up a bit, and feature some video content. It is VERY flattering to be featured in a tuner magazine for my endeavors behind the keyboard instead of behind the wheel.

It is even more of an honor to be paired up on the same page with my ‘Keep Drifting Fun’ buddy, Will Roegge! This feature really turned out cool, and is available on newstands nationwide. Thanks Clint!!!

If you didn’t know… this Hobo ain’t your average hobo. He ith a cultivator of fine beards, exquisite cinematography, and wondrous colour grades. Joshua “Hobo” Herron just dropped his ’09 demo reel on the world… and no, he didn’t upload it from a freeway off-ramp holding a sign that says “Why lie? I need a beer”.Bask in the omnipresent talent exuded in this three-minute sampling of work. Then, when you are done… hire this man so I can enjoy more visuals of this caliber.

I was digging through some old boxes from my college days, and stumbled across these old flyers. If memory serves me correctly, Antonio Garcia, TJ McCucheon, and myself walked into the Kinko’s on 14th empty handed. The goal was to make the flyers with anything available inside the store (without using their computers).

These flyers are a result of turning trash cans inside-out, and using paper scraps, scissors, and glue to assemble a completed flyer.I have no idea who made what, but This was definitely a fun exercise, and it yielded some pretty cool workI might have to try this again sometime!

Finished up the pre-packaged sticker packs for Slide Style™! The clean and simple design is in-line with the 2010 rebranding, and I am very pleased how they turned out. Sticker Packs consist of 7 stickers (one of each), while the Killer Pack™ is stuffed with 35 of the same variety (five of each). The backs of the card have a funny message… but you’ll have to cop some to see.

Available now in the Slide Style™ Online Store.

I am behind the times, I know… I still do not have an Xbox 360, which means I am also not privvy all the cool stuff in Forza Motorsport 3. My buddy Marlow showed me this replica of my car in its 2006 livery with Batlground on the door. If you recall, Casey (cobratuner) made an amazing replica of my car in it’s 2007 livery for Forza 2. I think this version of the car was made by “AoG | Kevbo” on the forzamotorsport.net forum.

I’m definitely flattered to see people take the time to make my car’s likeness. It is really, really awesome, so THANK YOU!!!

Even though I “revamped” the Slide Style™ site about six months ago… some sort of muse was pushing me to scrap it, and do something else. The hosting was up for renewal, so rather than renew, and keep the hacked up WordPress store that had too much going on, I opted to move everything over to a Big Cartel storefront. Keeping things inline with “less is more for 2010”, I stripped everything down to the barest of essentials. Dare I say that it looks MUCH better? The added functionality that Big Cartel provides, like easier combined & international shipping profiles, made the move that much sweeter.I have some new items making their way to the store over the next few days, so keep your eyes peeled!

I always preach to clients that less is more. Nobody ever listens to me (why would I know what I’m talking about, right?), so I figured what better venue to exercise this philosophy than with my own work. For 2010, I am simplifying the overall identity for Slide Style™. I don’t think it will open any client’s eyes to the ‘less is more’ idealogy, but at least it will give me a chance to push the direction for myself.

After many many years of collecting skateboard decks, I finally got around to getting them up on the wall. This was not an easy task… even with single-deck floating displays from Sk8tology. The problem hanging this many decks is that they all variate in size (width, specifically).

To make things easier, I took a wall measurement and created a document in Illustrator to scale. I laid out all the decks how I wanted them arranged, and measured them individually – creating a corresponding rectangle in Illustrator (also to scale). Once this was all done, I distributed spacing horizontally using the align palette. This gave me a precise figure to which I used a micrometer to translate spacing between decks as I hung them. Why go through all that trouble? Feng shui is important – especially when I spend over 90% of the time in my office. Besides, a peril of being a designer is such that if they weren’t perfectly spaced, it would drive me nuts. I still have about 12-15 more decks to hang on the opposing wall… so stay tuned for more!

In lieu of the new year, I decided to give the site a once-over with some new graphic elements and increased functionality. Since my pursuit of a career in professional drifting has long-since expired, I wanted adjust the main navigation to focus attention toward my artistic abilities.Special thanks to Carlos Richard for the photo in the main header!

MotorMavens Online Store

I revamped the online store on MotorMavens. Using Big Cartel’s pre-existing shopping cart template, I was able to tweak everything to fit within the exiting framework of the site. Now combining shipping and accommodating international customers with overseas shipping options is MUCH easier.http://store.motormavens.com

DTTN! Logo Design

Another logo design that saw MANY revisions and explorations. The final version was found in the second set of variations… the first and third sets being drastically different from this batch – but altogether vital to the creative process. Further proof that your first idea is not always your best.

keep_drifting_fun_or_else_sm

A new sticker design I just finished up. Over the years this has become my mantra. Keeping drifting fun is something that is INCREDIBLY important to me. I felt stickers would be an appropriate way to spread the gospel. These black/white/red on clear stickers should be back just in time for the holidays… and will be available on slidestyle.us.

This Deathmachines.net interview offers a really cool insight to how my buddy Will Roegge got into shooting and editing some of the most visually stunning automotive content EVER. This video also has a sneak peek at the 2010 Medium Monster reel… to which I spied some footage from the DMGGMASD events!
