2008 Driver Profile – Andy Sapp. from Andy Sapp on Vimeo.
This edit is well over a year in the making. This cut is as close to perfect as I will ever get it. This video is the most thorough, polished, and complete example of my abilities behind the wheel… and my abilities behind a computer. Period. This digital short showcases the past 3 years of my professional drift effort. Features amalgamated footage from Formula Drift and Nopi Drift events, as well as various Nopi/NDRA demos, grassroots competitions, practice events, SPEED TV, and other television appearances.
Very very special thanks to everyone who provided me with the footage to edit this video.

Keep drifting fun. OR ELSE.

I happened to come across this wireframe that Ryan made while working on the 3D model of my e46. I know this was from an earlier stage of the modeling process… but I think this looks super cool!
My buddy Timbo gave me a call on Wednesday saying that Spitfire Studios was shooting a commercial for Cartoon Network, and they needed a stunt driver. They rented a Mustang for the shoot, but at the last second asked if I could bring the e46. So last night, I gladly trailered ol’ grrrl up, and headed smack-dab downtown to the 5th floor of a parking deck next to the Marriott.
They rented the entire parking deck out, and sprayed it down with water for a better look on-camera. The focus was on these super-cool plastic figures, that are part of CN’s new action flick campaign. They were shooting with an insane RED camera in 4K HD. The image playback was AMAZING. They were using a SKATER dolly, and were remotely rack focusing between the character and the drifting.

5 stories up, my marks down

This shoot was an amazing opportunity, and an awesome experience. It is a little different having to hit your marks every time when there is a full crew depending on you. It was similar to hitting normal clipping points… but different pressure-wise. BIG thanks to Timbo for the referral, and to Spitfire Studios for having me out. I never thought I would be allowed to drift through a parking deck in downtown Atlanta, and get paid in the process. The commercial should begin airing next week… so keep an eye out on Cartoon Network!
An amazing desktop snapped by Shawn Watson. At first… nobody noticed my e46 buried within the smoke billowing from Tyler Clayton’s super-stretched tyres. I can assure you… the view from my car was about as revealing. I could only see the very front corner of his turn signal. The rest was like driving behind a coal-burning freight train.Big thanks again to Shawn for the KILLER photo.
Southeast Drift‘s Drivers Only event turned out to be insane. I totally destroyed 10 tyres at the event… and with several DriftMechaniks in attendance… the tandem was killer. The atmosphere was super-laid back without spectators, and limited run-groups. It made for a nice change of pace from normal drift events.Shawn Watson came out to the event, and snapped some awesome shots. He wanted to try and emphasize more movement in the photos, so he did a lot of panning. The pictures turned out different from most drift event photos, in an amazing way. I think the overcast day helped to add a cool feel to his photos.
Here are a few he shot of the e46 in action. To check the full roster of snaps, check the gallery page that Cody Wellons hosted for him.

I’ve got a killer desktop image that Shawn shot from the event that I will post up tomorrow… so keep an eye out.
To celebrate UUC Motorwerk’s 10-year anniversary, they gave away magnetic drain plugs on a 1st-come 1st-serve basis. I’ve been meaning to order this part for YEARS… so when I got the e-mail, needless to say – I went right to their website and snagged one.

Maybe they’ll give away a big brake kit next?
Hey… a kid can dream!
KILL OR BE KILL 2. from Andy Sapp on Vimeo.
The long-awaited follow-up to the first installment. This video continues the horror-inspired, theatrical slow-motion – while trying to keep the “sequel” status from collapsing into common franchise stereotypes that the horror genre is known for.Principal photography for this project was plagued with technical difficulties from the start. Cameras falling off cars, HDD cameras shutting themselves off before every run, lens issues, focusing problems… it was all there. While this video didn’t quite live up to my personal expectation and original creative vision… it did turn out well.

It was a long weekend, and a great event. Plenty of fierce battles between old friends and veteran drifters alike. It made for an amazing time, and a fantastic weekend. After the dust settled… I almost lost an eye, had 6 destroyed tyres, and a 3rd place trophyDetails to come shortly.
What can I say. The third and final installment if Southeast Drift‘s Triple Threat series was an amazing finale. I had a feeling going into this event that two things would happen: my camera would fall off a car, and someone would wreck. Both wound up happening (to me)… but such is inevitable. The advanced-tandem sessions were getting closer with every run. Everyone has stepped their game up. It’s amazing to see that Atlanta still kills it… through thick and thin.

Multi-car madness.

This is what it’s all about.

KILL.

I came across a really great replica that the user “cobratuner” on forzamotorsport.net made of my e46 in Forza 2! I don’t have an XBOX 360, and haven’t played the game to know what goes into making a replica… but I can’t imagine it is an easy task.
P.Haire said you get only basic shapes and fonts to work with… which makes this that much more impressive. The livery is done up on an e46 M3, since I’m guessing the game doesn’t offer a 325Ci like mineI can’t get over Dosa’s hood graphic… the detail is intense!

SO SICK! Thanks to “cobratuner” for all the hard work.
I need to get an XBOX 360!!!

I’m STILL recovering from this weekends final installment of the Southeast Drift’s Triple Threat series. These events keep getting sicker… and Atlanta keeps bringing it stronger. More on this event soon… I’m exhausted.
CBS 46 News came out to Turner Field yesterday and did a nice feature on the Southeast Drift event at Turner Field.
We’ve been drifting in the Turner lot since 2004… and I’m amazed that a news station hasn’t made it out sooner
I had seen a similar video of a Z3 being built the last time I was up at the BMW Zentrum in Spartanburg, South Carolina… but I had no idea there was a video of an E46 being built. The voiceover is in German, but a picture speaks a thousand words… and these words are awesome.
