In an effort to raise the bar at grassroots drift events… I schemed with Marcos and cranked out a RAD set of decks that will be trophies for this coming weekend’s Southeast Drift Challenge. This will be the first grassroots drift event in Atlanta with sanctioned team drift and single-run competition. This mad action will span two days at Turner.

There will be two complete sets of these decks to be won. The 1st place finishers (3 drivers) in the team drift competition will each receive a deck. Each of their decks will read “Team Drift 1st Place”. The 1st-3rd place finishers in the single-run competition on Sunday will receive one of the above decks with their respective finish on it.
I just got back a one-off deck I had made of the Drift Invasion T-shirt design I designed for the guys over at Unnatural Inc. It came out a bit dark, but overall pretty rad!

I have been working on a lot of new decks as of late… mostly one-offs for my collection. As a jaded designer… pressing up decks is a refreshing change of a print medium. The same excitement I used to get when a box of 5000 12pt 4/4 UV coated flyers would come in is now the same excitement I get when a box filled with skateable pieces of 7-ply Canadian maple arrives at my door.I had a few other decks pressed, but I can’t post them up just yet… so stay tuned!
Four new Slide Style™ decks arrived on Monday. I had two new designs pressed, along with two decks from the ’07 lineup.
I snapped a few pics straight out the box… still wrapped in shrink.
Motorcult Modern & Wireframed.rnThese decks both started out as typography/style explorations.

Firebird & SlantBig ups to Dosa Kim for the Firebird illustration. That thing is sick no matter where it lands.

What started out as a random experiment in typography ended up landing itself as a new deck for Slide Style™.
I can’t wait to see these printed on wood.

After the deck was designed, I implemented the style into an ad appearing in Wrecked Magazine.

Just got back from the surgeon for my checkup. got some x-ray MADNESS. i took the pics with my sidekick… so the pictures aren’t great… but you’ll get the idea.
7″ plate, 8 screws, and a bone graft.

I’m out of surgery, and back home. I cant feel my shoulder at all… but I can feel that my collarbone isn’t grinding its bones against itself anymore. Before surgery you could actually hear them grind when I would try to move.
The Dr. said it was much worse when they opened me up… that the surgery was the way to go. Originally it was an option to let it try and heal on its own. I really fuckered it up bad, so I know I made the right choice by going under the knife.
I really did it this time. I had a serious fall off my skateboard on Saturday night. I major case of wheel-bite sent me flying, both feet in the air, off my board, and onto the pavement… landing right on my shoulder. I managed to break my collarbone in 4 places, one of which punctured my lung slightly. The ER didnt even see the lung… and they said i cracked two ribs, but my orthopedic surgeon confirmed they’re just bruised… not cracked.I have to go into surgery on Thursday to have a plate put in my shoulder. Who would have thought that a rock wedged under a skateboard wheel could inflict so much damage.

The first Slide Style™ deck came in today! It’s awesome to see something go from screen, to printed wood. This was really just a test run, to see how it would turn out… which was a bit darker than I designed. Overall, the quality is great!
I finished designing the first lineup of Slide Style™ decks!
